Obvious Sign of Infertility

16 December, 2009 (04:11) | Diseases | By: Health news

Infertility is a health concern faced by an increasing number of couples, whether newly weds or die-hard couples who keep on trying for years now to bear children. Inasmuch as it is great of them not to lose hope, it’s the wisest decision to speak to a physician and infertility specialist to look for the right redress.

The most obvious sign of infertility is from women, partly because they are the bearers or should we say the receptacle of the male sperm which is responsible for ovulation. When an adult woman experiences irregularities in her menstrual cycle she becomes a good candidate for infertility.

There are many causes to that:

  • It can be because of deformed reproductive organs that are included in the process.
  • Having an irregular menstrual cycle often is also a sign of having PCOS or polycystic ovarian syndrome. It’s a health condition where the woman’s hormone levels are erratic.

Men also are not an exemption. The most obvious sign of infertility they have is having undescended testicles. That is a common condition among babies i their first few months,. The testicles would then move down to the scrotum. And if this doesn’t happen, they should consult with the doctor for treatment. For adult men who have undescended testicles, there is no reprieve but to remove the whole testicle since it becomes utterly useless.

When a woman is so thin that she lacks healthy body fats, there is a great reason for her not to get pregnant. Lack of the proper nutrients is one of the common reasons for infertility that can be controlled. Having too little of that healthy body fat is a common thing in women who are athletic and those who suffer from having eating disorders. This happens since menstruation stops when it tries to conserve energy.

There are signs of infertility that are also reasons why you have the disease and it usually requires the man or woman to see the doctor. An example of this is malformed reproductive organs as mentioned above or worse it can be because of central nervous system deficiencies such as health issues in the spinal cord or the pituitary gland.

However, here is the truth about it:

When you have been trying to have children and have been sexually active without using of birth control for 6 months now and still has no signs of being successful, it’s the right time you seek for medical advice. After all it’s not just trial and error.

Diverticulitis

14 December, 2009 (05:53) | Diseases | By: Health news

First and foremost, you should know that diverticulosis is a different condition from diverticulitis. People would often think that these two conditions are just the same, when in reality it is not. Diverticulosis happens when the pouches are protruding outwards from the wall of the colon. Diverticulosis is also called as diverticular disease. Individuals may have diverticulosis but they can be just fine, as this doesn’t pose much threat to one’s health.

On the other hand, diverticulitis occurs when one of these pouches becomes infected and causes inflammation and pain. Usually, diverticulosis occurs among the elderly but they would not experience any symptoms of the condition. However, researchers have found out that there is an increasing incidence of young adults who are being diagnosed with diverticulosis and diverticulitis.

In diverticulosis, a person may experience some pain in the lower portion of the abdomen, usually on the left lower side. This pain would usually happen when the person is passing out stools. There is also an apparent change in the bowel habits. There can be constipation and alternating diarrhea; but diarrhea is a less common condition as compared to constipation. Sometimes, patients would also notice a small amount of blood in the stool.

In diverticulitis, patients may experience such symptoms but with other additional symptoms as well. These would include severe pain that won’t easily go away. The pain would usually start on the person’s umbilical region which would move to the lower left or right side of the abdomen. There is also an increase in the person’s body temperature because of the inflammation. Aside from that, there is also a frequent need to urinate but urinating is also painful. There could be nausea and vomiting, as well as a bleeding rectum.

Researchers are not fully aware of the exact cause of diverticulitis but as we all know, we have bacteria in the colon, and this may have caused the inflammation of the diverticula. There are some studies that claim that genes may play a role in the formation of this, but experts would suggest that lifestyle has a great factor.

If you want to prevent having diverticulitis, it would be best to have a balanced diet and eat lots of fiber rich foods. You may also want to accompany your diet with a regular exercise. You can try exercising on a Swiss ball so that you can keep your body healthy.

Toenail Fungus Treatment

11 December, 2009 (03:23) | Diseases | By: Health news

Anyone who has seen toenail fungus knows what an unpleasant sight that can be. If you are the unfortunate one who is suffering from nail fungus, you would most probably be embarrassed about the condition especially as your toenails would appear thick and yellow- not a nice sight at all. Unfortunately, this is not a condition that is likely to go away on its own.

Toenail fungus is caused due to several different conditions.

  • Among the most common of these reasons are the shoes and socks that you may be wearing the whole day day. Individuals who have outdoor jobs and work in wet or damp weather are forced to stay in their cold, wet socks and shoes all day, making them very prone to nail fungus.
  • Another common reason that many people may develop nail fungus could be due to diabetes.

The good news is, irrespective of the reason why you may have developed toenail fungus, you do not have to just suffer through it; you can do something about it. You can now avail of effective fungus treatment in the form of topical creams that can help you get your nails looking healthy and clean. These topical creams are especially formulated to kill the fungal infection that lies beneath the nail’s surface and gives it that yellowish appearance

Sometimes, you may see that it is impossible to avoid nail fungus. Underlying health problems in addition to your chosen career can promote the growth of the virus and you may have no control over the spread. However, once you begin to see the symptoms of toenail fungus, it is best to take action immediately and not just ignore the signs. The first thing you need to do is get some kind of topical treatment so that the fungal infection can start healing right away. While the nail fungus will not disappear overnight with a topical solution, it will eventually disappear over a period of time.

When you are treating your toenail fungus you should also take proper care of your feet so as to avoid giving the fungal infection an environment that is optimum for proliferation. One of the things you can do is to try and make sure the socks you wear are made of cotton so that they absorb the excess perspiration. Also, always make it a point to always wear clean, dry socks as much as possible. Wearing waterproof shoes helps as well as they prevent your feet from getting wet. This again helps to ensure that you do not provide a breeding ground for the toenail fungus. Removing your socks and shoes whenever you get a chance so you can let your feet breathe each day is also an effective way to treat the infection. Fungal infections only grow where the area is moist and does not receive much air.

You can get rid of unsightly toenail fungus and have healthy looking toenails if you take the proper precautions. Taking proper care of your health is also an important factor that plays a huge role in treating your nail fungus.

Genital Herpes Pain Relief

27 November, 2009 (18:59) | Diseases, Pain management | By: Health news

Genital herpes outbreaks are never fun, never come at a convenient time, and aside from the nasty rash and lesions, they are often accompanied itching and swelling, and in many cases, quite a bit of pain. While many treatments and remedies focus on healing lesions and speeding up recovery time, not many deal with the pain of an outbreak. In this article, we’ll take a look at a few methods you can try at home with easily available ingredients, that are tried and true tested genital herpes pain relief treatments.

Over the Counter PainkillersSometimes a simple over the counter painkiller can be enough to reduce the pain of a herpes outbreak. I recommend Ibuprofen, it has worked the best for me in the past and reduces inflammation too. In my experience aspirin and paracetamol haven’t helped much. A local anaesthetic can also work wonders, but get a spray on variety rather than a cream, the spray contains alcohol which will evaporate, while a cream will contain a greasy solution that might gunk up your sores and make healing take longer.

Salt – Washing lesions in a mixture of warm water and Epsom salts can be very soothing and help relieve pain. You can also try sea salt (don’t use table salt), or try a bath of the same mixture, although you’ll need to use a lot of salt, around 2-3 cups for a bath.

IceApply an icepack wrapped in a thin cloth or towel for ten minutes, then take it off for five minutes, then apply for another ten minutes. This is a surprisingly effective pain reliever.
