Signs of Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes

16 March, 2010 (22:19) | Diabetes | By: admin

Diabetic symptoms of both types of diabetes are almost the same. The main difference is in the speed of appearance of these symptoms.

Type 1 Diabetes: This type of diabetes is the result of an autoimmune response. The immunity system of the body attacks the precious beta cell located in the pancreas. This condition so far cannot be controlled. The sufferer of such type of autoimmune disorder requires the insulin supplement for the rest of their lives.

The insulin is not being produced in the body in case of diabetes type 1 so the symptoms not only develop but also worsen instantly. If the signs of diabetes type 1 are ignored the sufferer may end into diabetic coma.

Type 2 Diabetes: The picture of type 2 diabetes is entirely different. In this case pancreas is producing insulin but it may be insufficient. Sometimes the pancreas is producing the needed amount of insulin but the body cells become resistant to insulin and become unable to use it. There is some amount of insulin in the body so the symptoms of diabetes type 2 become obvious slowly aver a period of time. Sometimes it takes even few years before the diabetes is properly diagnosed.

The symptoms of both types of diabetes are almost the same. It is important to consult a health care professional if any of the given sign of diabetes is seen.

Unquenchable Thirst: This is a classic sign of diabetes. It depicts that everything is not going fine. No matter unquenchable thirst could be because of some other factors but it is good to visit a doctor if the symptom persists.

Recurrent Urination: This is obvious that if excessive fluid is going in, that fluid has to come out. However if recurrent urination is because of diabetes there could be a sweet smell in the urine. This smell indicates the elevated level of sugar in urine. Again there could be some other medical conditions that cause frequent urination.

Change In Vision: Any sudden change in vision must never be ignored. Elevated blood glucose level can injure the blood vessels in the eye retina. These damaged blood vessels then cause damage to the structure of eye.

Sweet Smelling Breath: Diabetics may notice a sweet or fruity smell in their breath. It is good to investigate the underlying cause.

Hunger Soon After Eating: Sudden increase in appetite must be checked, especially if it is soon after eating. It becomes more important to check if the increased appetite is accompanied by sudden weight loss.

Lethargy and Tired Feelings: Lethargy is the most ignored symptom as everyone is leading a busy life nowadays. However even after going to the bed early if the symptoms are not cleared, it should be consulted with the doctor.

Difficulty in Breathing: This can be because of pregnancy, respiratory problem or because of diabetes. It is good to diagnose the cause whatever it is.

Liver Disease Symptoms

26 February, 2010 (19:19) | Diseases | By: Health news

Did you know that of the top causes of death and disability liver disease is the only cause that has consistently grown over the last few decades? And that over one third of all people in the Western world suffer from liver disease and don’t know it?

Most people in this condition suffer from mild liver disease. Symptoms are not specific to the liver and most of the time people attribute it to sloppiness, tiredness, diet, or genetics.

If you suffer from two or more of the following symptoms chances are you suffer from some form of liver disease.

  • Excess body weight. Because the liver is in control of your body’s metabolic rate, when there is liver disease your metabolism is impaired. This often leads to obesity (and extreme weight loss in later stages). When people go on normal diets they will lose some weight but because their liver is not healthy their metabolic rate will go down and weight loss soon stops – the famous weight loss plateaus.
  • Bad breath. When your metabolism is impaired your body has to resort to alternative ways of producing energy. These processes produce byproducts which are expelled by your mouth, producing bad breath, no matter how many times you brush your teeth.
  • Circles under the eyes. It is not clear why liver disease causes circles under the eyes, but people who heal their liver will lose them, so there is a connection.
  • Diabetes, Hypertension and High cholesterol. More results from an unhealthy metabolism. Sugars won’t be handled properly as response to insulin diminishes, fat will pile up in your arteries, and your heart and brain will suffer.
  • Headaches and a foggy mind. Without proper energy sources and due to the pile up of toxic substances (which your liver was supposed to get rid of) brain cells won’t work properly causing a foggy mind and headaches. Some doctors believe that liver disease can cause Alzheimer’s disease, though no studies have shown a link.

Tiredness. No energy… Are you starting to see a pattern?

Feeling bloated. Besides controlling your metabolism and getting rid of toxic substances, your liver is also responsible for secreting bile, which is necessary to absorb fat. When it malfunctions it produces less bile and the excess fat is digested by bacteria, which secrete gas in the process, thus making you feel bloated.

Diabetes has changed my life

22 February, 2010 (11:47) | Diabetes | By: Health news

Growing up I always had dreams of owning my own business in New York City in a big high rise building. When I was hit with the diagnosis of diabetes when I was 19 those dreams still were there. After a few years of having diabetes and realizing what the insurance side of diabetes was like I started to become discouraged about owning my own business. How would I get insurance if I owned my own company. These are still my biggest concerns.

Diabetes introduced me to blogging which led me to social media. I started blogging everyday, going on social media sites, started working on design, started learning about search engines and how they work and different marketing techniques. I started to think to myself damn this is awesome, I would love to do this for a living. But, how will I pay for insurance.

So while still working for that old company I began to do some consulting, giving advice to people on how to rank better in Google and then teaching them about Twitter and showing then how Facebook = easy money. So then popped up CSI Marketing Solutions, LLC.

Right now I have insurance through Cobra for the next 18 months so the insurance part of owning my own business is not as much of a concern. So this is how diabetes has led to me owning my own business. If it wasn’t for diabetes who knows if I would have created a web design and search marketing consulting company.

It’s times like this that make me thankful to be diabetic.

Have a great weekend everybody.

WHAT IS DIABETES?

Diabetes is a syndrome of disordered metabolism and can be prevented naturally with a balanced nutrition and can be controlled by engaging in basic exercises. Usually, diabetes is due to hereditary and environmental causes resulting abnormally that leads to high blood sugar levels. Excessive use of sugar has been known to increase incidences of type 2 diabetes and obesity. As a result, diabetes will require maintenance and permanent medication.

TYPES OF DIABETES AND TREATMENT

Type-1 diabetes in most cases requires the delivery of artificial insulin by means of injection combined with careful monitoring of blood glucose levels using blood testing monitors. Eventually, the pancreas can wear out from working overtime to produce extra insulin and may no longer be able to produce enough to keep a person’s blood sugar levels within a normal range. At this point, insulin therapy is necessary to maintain normal or near normal glucose levels. Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. Oral medications are used in managing type 2 diabetes. With proper treatment, people who have type 1 diabetes can expect to live longer and healthier lives. Inculcate self discipline to make your diabetes care plan work. Educate yourself on how to care for your diabetes which will help you feel better today and in future.

ALTERNATIVE DIABETES CURES THROUGH THE HERBAL WAY

Vitamin E and C in Regulating Diabetes

27 November, 2009 (15:42) | Diabetes | By: Health news

There are upwards of 10,000 new cases annually of diabetes in the United States alone and the number is astronomically larger in the rest of the world. This condition, where the body fails to produce enough insulin, the chemical that regulates glucose, afflicts millions of people. Although it is now treatable, hundreds of thousands succumb to it annually. Billions of dollars have been pumped into diabetes research and despite the fact that there is no definite cure, there has been impressive progress in its treatment. While medicine affords a way for diabetics to live a normal life, millions of sufferers have also taken to vitamins to control its effects. Two of these vitamins are E and C. But exactly how effective are they?

Vitamin power

Medical research has gravitated towards the following vitamins as a way of regulating the effects of diabetes; B complex, B1, Pyrodoxine, C, E and B6. Recently, medical researchers have zeroed in on Vitamin C and E.

Examining Vitamin C

This vitamin has edged its way to the forefront of the battle against diabetes. Diabetics find themselves deficient of this helpful compound primary due to stress. Recent research has unearthed the fact that diabetics experience an increase in natural increase in insulin production with each subsequent increase in Vitamin C.

Foods with Vitamin C

Now that we have identified Vitamin C as a major weapon against diabetes, which foods can this vitamin be derived from? Veggies, citrus family of fruits and sprouted bengal are all rich in Vitamin C. This is also good news to people who do not have diabetes. Eating these fruits and vegetables can strengthen the immune system and ensure a steady production of insulin which can prevent any diabetes.

Vitamin E expert information

This is another potent vitamin in the fight against diabetes. People with diabetes experience damage to their arteries. One of the vitamins that has been very effective against this is Vitamin E. This is because, like Vitamin C, this compound is used by the pancreas to boost insulin production. That is why patients suffering from diabetes are required to take at between 100-1500 IU of this vitamin daily.

The foods that are rich in Vitamin E include cereal, bread, vegetables, diary products and sunflower seeds. Others include vegetable oils, soy beans, lettuce and whole grains.

We see from the above information that a lot rests on the proper diet. That is why in the fight against diabetes, there is no substitute for eating right.
