When Hemorrhoids Become Painful

22 October, 2010 (21:26) | Diseases | By: Health news

Hemorrhoids is a medical condition that affects the lower rectum and anus. They are also known as piles and are made up of groupings of blood vessels and tissue that have become inflamed. When there is too much pressure on the walls of the anus the muscle that usually supports the vessels becomes weak. They can then enlarge and are no longer supported.

When this occurs a small sac of dilated veins develops within the rectal canal or underneath the skin surrounding the anus. Internal hemorrhoids are not visible to the naked eye because they are located deep within the anal canal. About the only way to discover them is to notice the bleeding. If one of these hemorrhoids comes through the anus while having a bowel movement, it is termed a prolapsed hemorrhoid. This causes a lot of pain and can be really hard to push back in. External hemorrhoids are visible to the naked eye and have a bluish color. There are not usually any symptoms with this type unless they become inflamed. When this happens they can bleed, are painful and reddish in color. Rarely, a blood clot will form inside one. This is called a thrombosed external hemorrhoid. The resulting tiny mass, about the size of a BB, is extremely painful.

When you go to the doctor they will perform various tests based on the reported symptoms. If internal hemorrhoids are suspected an anoscope will be used to view the inside of the rectum. This is simply a skinny tube with a light on it. They might do other testing to make sure that there is no other cause for the bleeding. A colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy are the most common tests for viewing deep inside the rectum.

Men or women are prone to getting hemorrhoids at any stage in their lives. They are more common in older people or females who have borne children. It is also not uncommon to see them appear during pregnancy. You are more likely to get them if your family has a history of them. When you are having bowel movements it is important not to push too hard because this is one of the biggest causes of hemorrhoids. Also, make sure that you get some help when lifting heavy things.

Using herbs can help to make your bowel movements easier. Aloe ferox can help you a lot when you are feeling constipated. It is one of the most renowned stool softeners available. Dandelion and Passiflora Incarnata are also well known for their positive effects on the digestive system and muscles in the bowel.

How to Know If You Have Anemia

14 April, 2010 (19:31) | Diseases | By: Health news

If you think you might have anemia but are not sure here are a few guidelines to follow so that you can pinpoint what you have.

The most obvious recommendation I would and should give is to go to the doctor to find out if you have anemia. They will do a red blood cell count and determine quickly if you are suffering from low energy as a result of low red blood cells or another source problem.

Other signs to look out for:

  • Looking Pale or more pale than usual
  • Felling listless or dull
  • Consistent nagging Fatigue
  • Constantly chewing on ice?
  • Hair falling out?
  • Always being cold?
  • Weakness…
  • Shortness of breath
  • Light-headedness
  • Palpitations (feeling of the heart racing or beating irregularly)
  • Dizziness
  • Chest pain
  • A weird feeling of wanting to eat ice?
  • As you may know anemia already anemia is a disease of the blood.

The lack of Iron or decreased oxygen carrying capacity of your blood is causing some or all of the symptoms above.

However if you have some of these symptoms it does not mean that you have anemia. The only sure way to know is to go to your local doctor.

    Your Past:

If you have had a history of internal bleeding or hemorrhoids then this could be the cause.
A black or darker stool can often be a tell tale sign of internal bleeding leading to your anemia.
If you work will or in a factory close to heavy metals this may be the reason for your anemia.
If you have had chemotherapy in the past it is very likely that this is the cause of your anemia.

    How to Cure Hemorrhoids

    12 March, 2010 (22:53) | Diseases | By: admin

Are you looking for the best tips on how to cure hemorrhoids naturally?

Getting rid of Hemorrhoids or piles, as they are sometimes referred to, can be as simple as adjusting your eating habits. We all know that we need to drink plenty of water and avoid ‘processed foods’ so what can I tell you that may be a little different? Read on for what could be the solution to your sore problem.

There seems to be an ever growing population of ‘yo yo’ dieters. If you are suffering with hemorrhoids and finding it difficult to change you’re eating habits, I am confident that is an added stress that you do not need. Starving yourself is certainly not the answer, Lifestyle change is the only way to ensure optimum health both mentally and physically.

  • 5 small meals a day:
  • As a Hemorrhoid sufferer you might find that eating 5 smaller meals per day instead of the usual 3 ‘man size’ portions eases your problem. Eating small meals at more regular intervals will stop you from ‘snacking’ during the day on unhealthier options. When eating smaller, more frequent portions your body can digest the food easier and knows how often to expect meals. Include plenty of fruit, vegetables and nuts in your eating schedule.

  • Separation Eating Plan:
  • Avoid eating both Carbohydrates and Protein in the same meal. Hemorrhoids can be very ‘raw’ so avoiding any food combinations that are going to constipate you and cause your digestive system to be sluggish should be avoided. Something that I have implemented myself before to obtain digestive wellness is to avoid mixing Carbohydrates with Proteins.

How long does it take for foods to leave the stomach?

    Meat 3-4 hours
    Complex Carbs 2.5 hours
    Fish 2-3 hours
    Fruit 30-40 minutes
    Juice 15 minutes
Protein/ Carbs mixed 8-14 hours! (based on 50/50 mix)

Foods that are eaten whilst other foods are in the process of being digested can lead to fermentation and toxic by-products putting unwanted strain on your system.

It is important to eat a well rounded diet to achieve and maintain a healthier body that will be strong enough to eliminate unwanted issues such as hemorrhoids.

  • Chew your food at least 30 times:
  • You will break it down in to a smooth juice like consistency and make it easier to digest. You will eat less too if you try that one!
